Hurricane Irene flooding in El Portal -- October 1999

Some residents who have lived along the river since the '50's say this was the highest level of the river they have seen since then. Consensus of photos is about three feet above normal average canal water level.

Corner of NW 86th Street and NW 2nd Avenue. The river level was such that water flowed over the seawall.





In the area that is now Sherwood Forest Park water seeped out of the ground with inches of rainfall added on top.
